Many of our courses offer the opportunity to undertake a placement year, providing invaluable insight and hands-on experience in the industry they’re interested in.
This was certainly the case for second-year BSc (Hons) Business Management student Freya Haycock-Hall.
Originally from Gnosall, Staffordshire, she is currently on placement with Müller working as a Commercial Account Intern.
We caught up with her at our recent Careers and Placement Fair, where she represented Müller, sharing her placement experience with other students considering their options in the same way she was inspired.
She said: “Every time Müller came to Harper at the Careers Fairs, they were always so positive and passionate about what they do, which made me want to apply, and I am so glad I did.
“Within my role at Müller every day looks a little different, which is what I love most about my placement. I never get bored. I typically am in communication with our supply chain service checking in on deliveries, failed deliveries, and shortages.
“I speak to Lidl, Aldi and Iceland on a day-to-day basis, send out weekly number reports, help forecast sale volumes.”

Freya chose to study at Harper Adams as she wanted to study locally, as well as being drawn by the opportunities and support that the university had to offer.
She describes her initial two years studying at Harper Adams as invaluable, adding: “My studies at Harper have supported me in many ways, my confidence in myself, my placement applications, and my knowledge that I am now applying during placement.
“My time at Harper Adams has been incredible, I’ve made so many memories and made lots of life-long friends.

“The support I have received from the staff has been amazing, they have made sure me and my friends have achieved our best, even when we didn’t think we could.”
To anyone considering studying at Harper Adams, Freya gives this piece of advice: “If you have the opportunity to go to Harper Adams, grab it with both hands as you will not regret it.
“You will create memories that will last a lifetime, make your best friends for life and learn so much about yourself.”
