Visitors will get a chance to get a taste for student life and learning at Harper Adams as the University welcomes them to its Open Day this weekend.
And for this open day, there’s something a little bit different – a chance to visit the University vineyard while grapes are being harvested.
The University will be opening its doors to hundreds of prospective students on Saturday, October 4 – with a range of course talks, activities, and campus tours at its Edgmond campus as well as the opportunity to see SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, Telford – where the first cohort of students on a series of digital skills degrees recently began their studies.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Ken Sloan will kick off the day with his welcome presentation, showcasing SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ and its work – and what that means for current and prospective students.
Professor Sloan will also explore the university’s approach to developing highly employable graduates, which has led to it being voted number one in the UK for career prospects nine years running.
Event organiser Teresa Jones said: “We’re expecting hundreds of prospective students to join us on Saturday – and bookings are still open so there’s still time for more people to secure a space
“There will be talks and activities covering the wide range of courses we offer – including undergraduate and postgraduate study, our Foundation Year programmes, and our Apprenticeships.
“There’s also the chance to find out more about some of the many student societies at our Students’ Union, and to talk to Admissions, Student Services, Accommodation and much more to get all the information you need as you explore going to university”
There will also be the opportunity for people to visit the SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ vineyard and find out more about viticulture, meet wine producers from across the region, and see this year’s crop mid-harvest. The Grape Harvest Open Day is running alongside the main event and is open to everyone, not just those visiting the university to explore courses. For more information and bookings see:
Teresa added: “So many of our current students tell us that visiting one of our Open Days helped them realise that Harper Adams was the University for them.
“The day should give you a chance to see our facilities - from a lecture theatre that accommodates huge tractors to farm-based classrooms, and from high-tech laboratories and our Veterinary Education Centre to our award-winning catering outlets.
“They’ll also give you a chance to meet our friendly staff and some of our current students, and to ask whatever questions you need to about studying at Harper Adams.
“We look forward to welcoming you on Saturday!”
