    Eat Well, Live Better: An Introduction to Nutrition, Health and Wellbeing (TELFORD)

    What will you learn?

    This four-week course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of the key principles of healthy eating, exploring the links between nutrition, health and wellbeing. We will consider healthy eating guidelines and provide an opportunity for learners to reflect on their own diet and wellbeing. In addition, by reviewing contemporary matters such as allergies and food labelling, the course provides learners with the ability to identify healthier options for themselves and their families.

    What will I study?

    • Module One: Defining health and wellbeing; understanding the concept of energy balance, BMR calculation and an introduction to Eat Well Plate.
    • Module Two: In depth review of Eat Well Plate, portion sizes, and the role of nutrients from each section. Explore macronutrients - function and links to health and wellbeing.
    • Module Three: Fibre and micronutrients; preparation and cooking methods; impact on health, food and disease risk; UK diets vs recommended diets (Estimated Average Requirements and Recommended Dietary Intake)
    • Module Four: Food labelling and allergies; the role of activity and exercise in health and wellbeing; final review of course.
