Each year, Alumni from Harper Adams get together – both informally and at formal events organised by the Harper Adams Club or the University. 

Among these is a regular reception at the Royal Welsh Show – and as this year’s show season starts to wind down, Development and Alumni Relations Manager Niven Maree looks back at the day in this guest blog.

SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ alumni spanning six decades have been brought together at a dedicated event at one of the UK’s prestigious Agricultural shows. 

Staff from the University’s Development Trust and Alumni Office were proud to welcomed alumni to the University Pavilion for the annual Alumni Reception held during the Royal Welsh Show. 

The event brought together graduates from every decade since the 60s, creating a vibrant and intergenerational gathering of shared history, achievements, and lasting friendships. 

From long-standing alumni reconnecting after years apart to recent graduates forging new connections, the reception was a celebration of the enduring bond that unites the Harper Adams community. 

Over a glass of wine from Halfpenny Green Wine Estate, managed by Harper alumnus Clive Vickers, stories were shared, memories relived, and new moments created – all within the spirit of camaraderie and pride that defines what it means to be a Harper graduate. 

The event also offered a valuable opportunity for alumni to engage with university staff, hear updates on new developments, and reflect on how Harper Adams continues to lead in innovation, sustainability, and agricultural excellence. 

Doris Taylor, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, concluded her welcome address by saying: "Whether you graduated five years ago or fifty, Harper remains your home -so thank you for being part of this journey. 

"Your presence today and continued connection to Harper are what keeps our community thriving."
